Force Friday Galactic Madness
For the sake of ultimate transparency, I've never been a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, I've been known to commit the act of blasphemy, in loving the second trilogy...
Finding the bookstore section or library shelf that contains Star Wars books is one of my favorite things to do. Last month, I stopped by Strand Bookstore and took a snapshot of the shelves there. I also walked out with a few copies I have been meaning to get for myself, specifically Kenobi by John Jackson Miller. (I know, I know. I am so behind on my readings list.) Although I have not read many of them, just seeing the various novels and guides brings a smile to my face.
To help celebrate the literature behind Star Wars, the third annual Star Wars Reads Day will return on October 11, 2014. Bookstores and libraries at major locations will host a range of events with appearances by several Star Wars authors, including Jason Fry (LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded, Star Wars in 100 Scenes), Daniel Lipkowitz (LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles), John Jackson Miller (Star Wars: Kenobi), Ryder Windham (Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide, Star Wars Rebels Junior Novel), and many more.
Last year, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jason Fry. We talked about Captain Rex, his Jupiter Pirates series, Star Wars Rebels, and much more. Who knows what might happen this time around? Speaking of Rebels, there could be promotional material for the new animated series, since it is set to debut in the fall. Ryder Windham’s novel, entitled Star Wars Rebels: Ezra’s Gamble, and other Rebels books in the works (check out Rebels Report for more information) may be heavily featured during these events to entice readers and passersby to watch the show.
Looking forward to sharing and participating in another Star Wars Reads Day with other fans!
