This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels. I’ve listed 5 books or series that I could keep reading and 5 that should have ended.

5 books or series I could keep reading

sequelsyes

Brenda Joyce’s Francesca Cahill series.
The last book was Deadly Vows and I waited a little over 7 years for this book. Joyce mentioned if it sold well, her publisher would commission one or two books, but leading up to publication date there was no promotion on her part or her publishers. I really wanted another book because it leaves so many characters in limbo. Did Maggie marry Fran’s brother? What of Bragg and his wife? Did they make up and how’s married life treating Calder? I haven’t had the heart to pick up another Joyce book since she so callously announced the end of the series.

The Ashford Affair by Lauren Willig
To be truthful, I’m quite happy with how it ended, but we’re missing Frederick’s viewpoint on several key scenes. If Willig should decide to revisit, I’d be happy to read it! Plus I want to know about that final scene where (I can’t mention it because of spoilers) and what happened afterwards.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Yeah I want to know how things are working with the _____. Hahaha, I’m so bad.

Night Film by Marisha Pessl
I know this book isn’t released yet and um I just want to know what happens after the whole story takes place! I’ll keep my mouth shut now since I’ll just spoil things.

Deanna Raybourn’s Lady Julia Grey series
Having just finished the last book in the series, The Dark Enquiry, I was sad because I wanted to know more about Julia and Brisbane. I could read their adventures and never get tired. There’s one thing I never want Raybourn to do is and that’s write a novella or a story via Brisbane’s POV. I like him mysterious and in the shadows and getting to know him via Julia.

5 books / series that don’t need to see the light of day

nosequels

Fifty Shades series by EL James
Now I know a lot of people enjoy the books and there’s talk of Christian’s point of view. For the love of all things holy, no. No more Fifty.

Thoughtless series by SC Stephens
Oh dear, one book was enough with Thoughtless and Kiera being too stupid to live. Okay she’s not, but she just annoyed me. Book 2, Effortless, should have been the end, but did we need a third with Reckless and the whole fan drama, etc? Nope. I can’t summon the energy to read this.

Bared to You series by Sylvia Day
Ah, I loved Bared to You! Reflected in You had me on the fence, but shortly after Entwined With You was released it was announced there would be 2 or 3 more books. No! I think Day could have ended it with Entwined instead of extending it.

Gabriel’s Inferno series by Sylvain Reynard
I really liked Gabriel’s Inferno and was quite happy with the way Gabriel’s Rapture ended with Julia and Gabriel married. So I was disappointed there was going to be a book 3 even though I think there’s no need for it.

Easy by Tammara Webber
A lot of people have been asking for Lucas’ story and Webber has sort of ignored the issue, but I really hope she doesn’t write. I don’t need his story and his closure. At this point I think all authors that write a POV in another main character’s point of view are out for the money because it’s the SAME story as the other POV. Utilize third person or write a book in dual POV in that case.
