Kathleen Kennedy recently worked as a producer on the film Lincoln with Academy Award winning actor Daniel Day Lewis, so it is little surprise that the two might have a lunch, but given the maelstrom of Star Wars: Episode VII rumors, any connection to the film will result some buzz.
Today Elmayimbe of Latino-Review.com tweeted the following:

It would be a rather serious coup to get an actor of Daniel Day Lewis caliber to join the sequel trilogy. At 56 years old Daniel Day-Lewis doesn’t fit the exact ages that were announced for male roles in the casting call for Episode VII, but it is not hard to see him playing younger or older given his skill as an actor.
If this lunch was really a business lunch, two roles that he could be up for based on the confirmed casting call are:
- Forty something male, fit, military type.
- Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.
Day-Lewis is certainly fit enough to play a forty-something character and it is easy to see his short grey locks in a military uniform, be it Imperial or New Republic.
Selecting Day-Lewis to play the seventy-something male role could make sense if it is a character that would recur through all three films given the production will run until approximately 2019. It would be a bit like the casting of Ian McDiarmid in his late 30s to play Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi.
The part about this that has me intrigued is my pet theory, that if Kennedy has anyone she really wants to land for a role in Episode VII, that she could bring Lucas in as the closer to help alleviate any concerns and help seal the deal.
At this point there isn’t even a rumor of an offer or a role, but only of a lunch. So any speculation is very premature, but no less fun when it comes to an actor the quality of Daniel Day-Lewis.
