Following Warner’s superhero movie slate announcement a couple of weeks ago, Marvel has laid out specifics of their movie plans in this video. Or, as they put it, details of their “cinematic universe”, which sounds much more exciting!
The visuals are mostly logos, and the first couple are expected. After next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron comes a Doctor Strange movie in late 2016. The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel has been moved to May 2017 so another Thor, Ragnarok, can come out that summer. Black Panther wraps up that year. (Can’t wait to see how that looks!)
Marvel’s proud that they’re putting out their “first female-helmed Marvel film”, Captain Marvel, in summer 2018. It’ll be difficult to wait four years, and I’m curious to see if the “helping” extends to the creative crew, such as writer and director roles. Late that year comes another movie about a team of misfits, Inhumans.
The Avengers get a two-part followup to Age of Ultron with Infinity War in spring 2018 and 2019. Another Captain America movie, Civil War, will co-star Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and debut Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther in spring 2016. That’ll be something to see!
