As promised early this year, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will finally release Batman: The Complete Television Series on DVD. It’s now slated for November, with Blu-ray and digital HD formats also mentioned. To promote the release, they’ve put out this “sizzle video”:
More information will be shared at a Comic-Con International panel with Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar, including “exclusive content [and] limited edition packaging”. Warner is calling this “the most anticipated home entertainment release in fanboy history”, a claim it’s hard to disagree with. The series is lots of fun for all ages, and an almost fifty-year wait to legitimately own it has meant there’s a lot of demand.
It remains to be seen whether the long wait will overcome the growing decline in home video sales as more customers switch to streaming. With 120 episodes, I can’t imagine this will be cheap, but the remastering looks really good.
