Nerdsmith - sci-fi and fantasy weapons forged in real life with Man at Arms

misc ramblings

Ever wanted to see a real life version of Link's Master Sword, the Sword of Omens from Thundercats or Wolverine's claws? That's exactly what Man at Arms, a blacksmith who has forged weapons for over 200 movies, has done.

The Man at Arms videos takes you through the forging of a geek weapon from beginning to end from shaping out the initial piece of steel to sanding down coloured glass for decoration.

What I like best about these weapons is that the're not just props that look good, but they're completely functional, battle ready weapons (with the exception of Cloud's Buster sword from Final Fantasy VII, which had to be held by 2 people).

Here are two of my favourite Man at Arms videos, but every weapon he showcases is great to watch. You can take a look at the full playlist.

Link's Master Sword

Wolverine's Claws

What's your favourite weapon from movies, TV, video games etc. Let me know in the comments!
