According to the Hollywood Reporter, “the CW no longer is developing the Wonder Woman prequel Amazon“. First announced in September 2012, the show was going to focus on the superhero’s origin (in keeping with the network’s youth orientation), but it had already gone through two tries at breaking the story for TV. CW president Mark Pedowitz is “open to taking a second stab at the iconic Wonder Woman character if the right material were to come along.”
They’re already running Arrow (which is fun and successful) and planning a Flash spinoff as well as putting Hourman and iZombie in development, so they don’t need to grab at every superhero idea. Still, it would be nice if Wonder Woman, the only major DC female hero, could get a successful live-action media project.
Would a younger Wonder Woman (by Ben Caldwell) have a better outfit?
