SF Review: Doctor Who: The Drosten’s Curse by A.L. Kennedy
My Review: Tomorrow, Saturday August 15, has been declared Doctor Who Comics Day by Titan Comics, who, of course, publish Doctor Who Comics. While I didn’t have a Doctor Who...
Trees, a new science fiction series by Warren Ellis and Jason Howard, launched on May 28. It’s the story of a different kind of alien invasion, one where the huge “trees” ignore humans and the immense disruptions they’ve made to society. The launch was overprinted, and although it hasn’t sold out, to drive interest in the series, the first issue is available for free digitally through Tuesday.
Issue #2 will be out this coming Wednesday, so the timing is excellent. And since orders always go down — it’s an assumption that not everyone who tries the first issue will return for the second — something like this is a great way to drive more interest and attempt to counteract that trend. Free tastes are the best way for someone to find out if they’ll like a comic.
You can get a free digital Trees #1 at ImageComics.com (as PDF, ePub, CBR, or CBZ formats) or ComiXology, but only for a few more days.

I know big, galaxy-risking, four-part stories are seen as more important, but it’s the one-off, quieter, more personal scenes that I really like in this series. I shouldn’t be too...
