The most recent addition to my Star Wars collection is rather predictable if you know of my love of Star Wars books. Gentle Giant’s Imperial Seal Bookends are a terrific addition to any book or home video shelf. They are no longer available on Gentle Giant’s website but you can still order them on-line at places like ThinkGeek for $69.99.
Cast out of polystone and hand-painted these are very substantial little bookends. I say little because when placed together they stand at only 5.85″ tall x 5.25″ wide x 2.75″ deep. The good news is that they are heavy enough that they should function as bookends perfectly well despite their size.
Set in a black base the black Imperial cog logo jumps out from the white background and is a bold and visually appealing design.
This is a rather simple design but I noticed no defects in the craftsmanship on my set. Each set comes individually numbered with a certificate of authenticity in the box. The one issue I had was that the printing on my box was misaligned at the factory, but this is a minor issue because the box is only going to be kept to transport these beauties.
If you are looking for a classy way to display your fandom whether in the office or at home, look no further than the Imperial Seal Bookends.
This was my third Gentle Giant purchase, after the TIE Pilot Mini-bust and the Republic Commando PGM 2012 Mini-bust, and the company is quickly becoming my go to source for high-end Star Wars collectibles at a reasonable price. I just wish I could afford more.
The good news is that if you like the Imperial bookends there will be a companion piece released in the third-quarter of 2014, the Rebel Seal Bookends.
Here are some images of the bookends:
