The journey continues:

Kay had discovered secrets, lies, shocking truths, and even love in a strange new world hidden from humans. Everything she thought she knew was turned upside down when she found out three things:

- She wasn’t human.

- She has a power she can't control.

- And there was a possibility that she had found a way to cure the cancer that was rapidly killing her with that very same power.

Then, just when she was on the precipice of gaining everything she wanted and saving her own life, tragedy struck. Will she be able to fight her way back to Ryan and save herself in the process?

Kira had lived a terrifying and confusing life of servitude and abuse under Lord Donovan and his son, Cole. It was an existence that had stripped away her emotions, and eventually, her reason to keep fighting. Just when she thought freedom was within reach, Lord Donovan struck again, ruining her plans and almost killing her in the process. When she awoke from her injuries, it was to stunning revelations that would change her life forever. Changes that she was not entirely sure she wanted to embrace.

Persistent individuals such as Prince Kane refuse to let her walk away, though. Will she embrace all of the sudden fortune in her life? Or will she walk away from those who need her most, forsaking their acceptance and love?

Excerpt -- Kira’s POV:

Kane inched closer. “Maybe you should sit down, Kira.”

And maybe you should back up, I thought.

“I’m fine. I don’t need to sit down. Now, please tell me what’s happened. If you don’t want to tell me that, then at least tell me what’s going to happen next? Do you plan to hold me prisoner? I swear to you that I knew nothing of Lord Donovan’s plans,” I added the last bit emphatically. The thought of being a prisoner of sorts once again because of Lord Donovan was more than I could take at the moment.

Queen Fiona’s breath hitched again, bringing new tears that streaked down her face. King Connell rushed to her side to hold her, patting her back and whispering affectionately in her ear. What in the world was wrong with that woman? Why wouldn't she stop crying? Perhaps it was the reminder the princess had been kidnapped?

Kane continued to stare at me in an assessing manner. “You will not be held a prisoner, Kira.”

“Am I free to leave then?”

At more sobbing from Queen Fiona, I had the overwhelming urge to get the hell out of here now! The Queen’s incessant crying was starting to grate on my nerves. I inched away from her a little more.

Kane’s face looked pained. “Perhaps you would like to hear a few things before you go running off to… wherever do you plan on running off to?”

Shrugging my shoulders was the only answer he was getting from me. I didn’t have a place to run to, not that I was going to tell him that.

“Okay. Since you don’t have any place in particular to go to, or you just don’t want to tell me, how about that information before you make your plans? It won’t kill you to stay while we ask you a few questions about Lord Donovan and listen to what we have to say. Kay is still missing, and we've had no leads as to where she might be. We've been waiting for you to wake up in the hopes of getting some answers.” What did they want to talk to me about so badly? Kane watched my every move, analyzing every thought that possibly crossed my face.
