umored Premiere Date for Star Wars Rebels
We’re two months away from the premiere of the highly anticipated animated series Star Wars Rebels, but we do not have an exact date to mark on our calendars. All advertisement have pointed to an October release, but Jedi Bibliothek received some information about a possible German release on October 3, 2014. Since Star Wars Rebels was advertised as having a world premiere, that date could also be the same for other countries, including the United States and Canada.

USA Today released a 52-second preview of the Sabine Wren short scheduled to debut on Disney XD Monday, August 18, from 9:29pm to 9:32pm. In this clip, Sabine infiltrates an Imperial tarmac with parked TIE fighters, where she begins to tag one of the vehicles. These shorts first appeared during Star Wars Weekends. The remaining two previews include Ezra Bridger (“Property of Ezra Bridger”) and Zeb Orrelios (“Entanglement”).
Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo on RebelForce Radio
RebelForce Radio’s Jason and Jimmy Mac recently spoke to executive producer of Star Wars Rebels Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo. FANgirl Blog captured the major highlights of the podcast’s episode.
I specifically loved the part when Dave defended that Star Wars was made for kids. Adults who immediately turn down Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars because both series are aimed for kids unfortunately don’t understand what Star Wars is truly about. Filoni, on the other hand, gets it and spoke about it briefly on the show, “I take exception when fans say you’re doing it for kids, and I say, ‘Of course I am.’ Not because I don’t think adults will like it. I think adults will love it, but if you talk to George, A New Hope was made for kids. They were always made for kids. It’s just if you tell the story right, both adults and kids can enjoy it and love it. And that’s what we targeted with Rebels.”

New Star Wars Rebels Toys
Star Wars Rebels toys are appearing on shelves everywhere. I’ve never been a toy collector, but I truly can’t wait to get my hands on the Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren figures. Until their release, there are plenty of more items to choose. If you have a youngling at home looking to dress the part on any given day or specifically for Halloween, check out the deluxe costume sets for Ezra Bridger, Darth Vader, and the Inquisitor! Here’s hoping we get to see more of Hera and Sabine on the shelves, as well.
Clancy Brown’s AMA Reddit Interview
Star Wars fans know Clancy Brown as the voice of Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but he’s also recognized as the voice for countless other characters. Many more remember him as The Kurgan in Highlander (1986). My first memories of Clancy Brown date back to a sci-fi television series from the mid-90s called “Earth 2.” He played John Danziger, an indentured worker and single father, and he was one of my favorite characters. Since then, I’ve been a Clancy Brown fangirl! In the latest AMA Reddit interview, Brown answered several fan questions and one in particular brought up Star Wars Rebels.
Q: Hi Clancy! You made my childhood with your voice acting. Are there any shows you’d like to voice act for that you haven’t yet?
A: Star Wars Rebels, I would love to do that. I haven’t seen it yet, but I know all of the people involved, and I know they’re great. And there are so many good shows on…it’d be tough to single out any of them.
In a way, he did single out Star Wars Rebels! I would love for him to come back to the Star Wars universe and voice another recurring character. As far as voice actors go, he is my absolute favorite, so I hope something opens up for him in the future.
Star Wars Rebels at Fan Expo Canada

Star Wars: A New Dawn Excerpt and Illustrations in Star Wars Insider #152
Star Wars Insider #152, set to be released on September 6, will feature an excerpt from John Jackson Miller’s novel Star Wars: A New Dawn, a prequel to Star Wars Rebels. The excerpt will be accompanied by three original illustrations by Star Wars artist, Doug Wheatley. Wheatley is known for his work on comics, such Star Wars: Empire, Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: Republic and Star Wars: Dark Times.
According to Miller on Twitter, “My schedule didn’t permit an original NEW DAWN short story for Star Wars Insider, so we excerpted an unseen chapter instead…which cover artist Doug Wheatley provided several illustrations of. Doug also gives us our first look at Imperial Captain Rae Sloane, one of my favorite new characters in the book. I’m interviewed, too” (Tweets A, B, C, D).
Having already read Star Wars: A New Dawn, I know exactly what is happening in this illustration with Hera and Kanan, but I won’t spoil it for any of you. The book debuts on September 2. Make sure to pre-order it today!
Star Wars Rebels Hasbro Poster
The Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic-Con had distributed a Star Wars Rebels poster to fans and 4LOMKUSS kindly revealed it to the rest of the community. What I love most about this poster is the fact that Hera and Sabine aren’t relegated to the background, a trend that happens often with female characters. In this case, however, both females are near the center. It’s great to see a change in focus from time to time and give certain characters the spotlight, especially when it comes to marketing toys.
Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion DVD Cover
Coming October 14 is the Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion DVD. Last week, it was reported that the DVD will include the one-hour special written by executive producer Simon Kinberg. This minor update includes the DVD cover. Rebel Transmission found a better quality version of the cover as seen below.
Star Wars Rebels Ad/Billboard
An employee for The Walt Disney Company, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) shared a picture of the ad/billboard project he worked on, which will be used to promote the premiere of Star Wars Rebels later in October. I’d love to see something like this over at Times Square, New York!
