Latino Review is reporting that in George Lucas’s story treatments that he wrote for Star Wars: Episode VII he had two working titles that he was playing with, “Return of the Sith” and “Rise of the Jedi.”
“I was exclusively told that during that time, it seems that George had two working titles for Star Wars: Episode VII that were competing in his mind: Return of the Sith and Rise of the Jedi! These working titles were turned over to the Disney Company through the sale, BUT, there is no guarantee whatsoever that Disney will use these titles for the movie.”
With Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise there is no guarantee that they will use titles that George Lucas was thinking about for Episode VII, in fact there is no guarantee that they will even follow the ideas for a story that Lucas had for the sequels.
Of the two I do prefer Rise of the Jedi, the use of “Rise” versus “Return” seems to portend something new and strikes me as a more exciting title.
