Force Friday Galactic Madness
For the sake of ultimate transparency, I've never been a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, I've been known to commit the act of blasphemy, in loving the second trilogy...
Come April, if you are in the Anaheim area and you happen to see one too many Star Wars shirts or glowing lightsabers, then prepare yourself for Star Wars Celebration, the ultimate and official convention of everyone’s favorite galaxy far, far away. From April 16-19, thousands upon thousands of fans will come together to celebrate the saga that started back in 1977.
“Celebration is a real living event,” said Anthony Daniels, the voice of C-3PO, at Star Wars Celebration Europe II in 2013, a three-day event that garnered about 30,000 attendees.
This upcoming event, however, is shaping up to the be best Celebration yet as new announcements surfaced in early December 2014. Fans in attendance will get an opportunity to preview the second season premiere of Star Wars Rebels as well as enjoy an encore presentation of the two-part season one finale. There will also be a panel featuring the cast and crew of the popular series, including Dave Filoni (Executive Producer, Supervising Director), Freddie Prinze, Jr. (Kanan Jarrus), Vanessa Marshall (Hera Syndulla), Tiya Sircar (Sabine Wren), Steve Blum (Zeb Orrelios), Taylor Gray (Ezra Bridger), and other special guests. And of course, there’ll be exclusive sneak peeks at what’s to come in season two.
Until then, Star Wars Rebels continues on January 5, 2015, with “Path of the Jedi”, but if you are a verified subscriber, make sure to check out WATCH Disney XD for an advanced preview of the episode the week prior.
In many ways, 2015 will be 1977 all over again, as once expressed by fan favorite author John Jackson Miller, with a brand new trilogy kicking off later in the year. I’ve described this particular Celebration as an enormous pre-party event in preparation for The Force Awakens, and I’m sure we’ll be partying all weekend (and year) long.
Seeing as this will be my first Star Wars Celebration, I am both thrilled and anxious. For many years, I missed out on the opportunities to experience the widely talked about event and had to settle with observing from a distance. Not this time around! I look forward to sharing this new journey with fans of the community–especially those I’ve come to know through social media–and making this an unforgettable experience.
