Friend of the site Johnamarie Macias found an interesting new Disney XD 2014 promotional video that highlights the channel’s 2014 animated programming lineup. The video which can be seen below highlights the addition of Star Wars Rebels to the programming.

The video mentions eight programs, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Pacman and the Ghostly Adventures, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H, Star Wars Rebels, Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja, Packages from Planet X and Camp Lake Bottom.

“That’s A List products and we wrap it up specially on Saturday mornings as well. Randomation Animation holding down the block like hats and bats. Tell them Steve sent you, Disney XD your animation source for 2014, Out.”

Johnamarie goes on to speculate that this video may indicate that Rebels will air on Saturdays.

To me it isn’t clear if the video is suggesting that all the shows will air on Saturday mornings or not, particularly because the Marvel shows have traditionally had their own programming block on Sundays.

The “Randomation Animation” programming block airs on Saturday mornings, from July 13 until November 16th this programming block ran from 8:30am to 10:30am, but on November 16th it was replaced with XD live-action series repeats.

From TV Guide:

Randomation Animation, beginning July 13, 8:30 a.m./7:30c
Need a reason to wake up on Saturday morning? Spankin’ new cartoons! The animation block, which will air throughout the season, features freshman series Packages From Planet X and Camp Lakebottom as well as returning favorites Max Steel and Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja and a Phineas and Ferb musical countdown hosted by Kelly Osbourne.

From Nick and More:

Now’s where the bigger changes come in: Starting next Saturday, November 16, the 8:30-10:30am line-up of animated comedies are gone, including premieres of Packages from Planet X, Xiaolin Chronicles and Camp Lakebottom. They will all be replaced by repeats of Disney XD’s live-action sitcoms Lab Rats, Kickin’ It and Mighty Med. Max Steel will still have premieres at 8am.

Sundays also see a change: Marvel Universe shifts from 11am to 8am. Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Avengers Assemble will now have premiere episodes at 8:00am and 8:30am, respectively. As you guessed it, live-action sitcom repeats will fill the 11am time Marvel used to occupy.

What all this tells me is that either Disney XD will have a 4-hour long “Randomation Animation” block on Saturdays, or that the animated shows discussed will not be all airing in the same animation blocks. It would be easy to see Star Wars Rebels being packaged together in the action/adventure “Marvel Universe” block.

We will have to wait and see if Rebels will be airing on Saturdays this Summer/Fall. Stay tuned to LightsaberRattling.com and the Rebels Report podcast for the latest Star Wars Rebels news.
