Star Wars: The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni posted an update of the status of The Clone Wars bonus content on Facebook.  This bonus content were the episodes produced and either completed or partially completed and planned to air in sixth season of the series. Yesterday Filoni announced that they had wrapped up production on these episodes as Lucasfilm Animation turns its attention to Star Wars Rebels.

This announcement means we won’t be getting this content until next year. While the exact timing and way that these episodes will be released is still to be announced, this provides resolution to the production of the show.

Also we have two The Clone Wars home video releases coming out on October 15, 2013.

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Complete Season Five” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars Seasons 1-5 Collector’s Edition” will both be released in DVD and Blu-ray formats.  As huge a fan of The Clone Wars as I am, I plan on passing on the Season 1-5 Collector’s Edition and picking up the much cheaper Season Five set. For one I already have seasons 1-4 on Blu-ray; and I expect that we will in 2014 or 2015 get a The Clone Wars Ultimate or Complete Collection that will include seasons 1-5, the bonus content that was to be season 6 as well as other goodies. If you have money to burn or are a home video collecting completest I would pick up the Collector’s Edition, if you already have the disks for seasons 1-4 I would probably only pick up season 5 and wait for the next box set.
