In the latest Star Wars Episode VII casting rumors we have two reports that Saorise Ronan went in to audition for a role in Episode VII. According to Kellvin Chavez of Latino Review, Ronan went into “read” for the role.
About two weeks ago I got a phone call about who else went in to read for an unknown part, I was just told to hold off till it happened and so it did.
I also got it confirmed with other solid sources before the whole denying comes into play.
The girl that went in for a read is…
Saoirse Ronan
The second report comes from Brendon Connelly of Bleeding Coo l, in which he says,
I can reconfirm that Saoirse Ronan has had a meeting and read for one of the lead roles – to the best of my knowledge, the lead role – in Star Wars Episode VII.
This was first reported by Latino Review but, for what it’s worth, I’ve also had a rather telling, silent nod from one of my own sources near the casting of this project.
As with all of these rumors, we should keep in mind that these are merely auditioning rumors. When a contract is actually signed with an actor or actress we should find out relatively quickly and receive confirmation from Lucasfilm.
It’s tough for me to analyze Ronan as an actress as the only thing I have seen her in was The Host, and I thought that movie was so awful I turned it off half way through. I will say that her 2011 films Hanna and Violet & Daisy sound interesting, Hanna would be worthwhile watching to see her in a more action oriented role, while Violet & Daisy features both action and comedy that I will probably check out.
Reportedly Ronan was Joss Whedon’s first choice for the role of the Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2, but for some reason isn’t doing that film.
Ronan’s next film is How I Live Now, due out in theaters November 8, 2013. The film is about an American girl on vacation in England when WWIII breaks out and all heck breaks loose.
In 2014 she joins the jam-packed cast of Wes Anderson’s new film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. She also will star in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster in 2014.
Taking a leading role in these two films with very good actors and actresses that she is working with speaks well for her acting skills.
