Star Wars Celebration Anaheim has been a whirlwind of emotions and surprises, kicking off with the worldwide release of the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser. Since then, fans have marveled at the variety of content flowing out of the Anaheim Convention Center, from unfinished Clone Wars stories to brand new video games and novels coming out later this year.

Celebration is not just about what new goodies we’ll get in the future, however. It’s also a celebration of the talented individuals who work diligently to continue George Lucas’ legacy. Dave Filoni took up the role as moderator during the “Rebels Women Who Fought The Clone Wars” to do just that and celebrate women’s accomplishments and involvement in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The panel featured line producer Athena Portillo, creative executive Rayne Roberts, production manager Liz Marshall, and senior concept designer Amy Beth Christenson. The four women discussed their essential contributions to the animated shows as well as their professional careers as women in the media industry.

The conversation between the four women was truly inspiring, empowering young girls and women to be bold enough to live their dreams. Audience members also had the opportunity to ask questions and share comments, one of my favorites being a father thanking the panelists for creating strong women characters for his daughter and son.

Stay tuned for more content from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, including a summary/reaction of “The Bad Batch” arc and the “Untold Clone Wars” panel.
