Far Far Away Radio is a weekly podcast and blog covering topics and discussions on the future Star Wars films and bringing a wide array of perspectives from the Star Wars fan community. I had the very gracious opportunity to write a guest column for the blog this week, entitled “The Future of Star Wars From A Different Perspective.” Many grown-up fans have expressed what they would like to see in the sequel trilogy and stand-alone films, but what about children? I tackle that subject with the help of close friends, including Chris Hamilton, the host of Star Wars Kidscast.

My guest column includes quotes from various children, but unfortunately, I couldn’t fit them all. Chris compiled a fascinating list of children’s thoughts, and since he did such a wonderful job, I wanted to highlight them for everyone to read. Now that you’ve read the guest post I wrote for the Far Far Away Radio blog, here is some additional material. In order to coax the answers out of these younglings, it was best to ask questions that were specific to a character instead of plainly asking, “What would you like to see in the next movie?” Collected by Chris Hamilton of Star Wars Kidscast, the following responses came from a handful of children ranging from 5 to 10 years old. According to Chris, some of the children took the questions seriously, while others leaned towards the side of humor. Either way, getting kids to talk to you about something you love and having them expand their imaginations is always a rich experience.

What do you think happens to…

Luke:

• Luke goes back to live on Tatooine.
• Luke turns into a stormtrooper.

Han Solo:

• Han is going to die.
• Han fixes up the Millennium Falcon.

Chewbacca:

• Chewbacca is going to destroy all the bad guys.
• Chewbacca goes back to his home planet to see his friends and family.

Leia:

• Leia is going to “get in love with Han Solo.” A giant TIE fighter is going to crash into their “wedding building.”
• Princess Leia gets married to Han Solo.
• Learns from Luke how to become a Jedi. (Chris: No, they haven’t heard of Dark Empire.)

R2-D2:

• Marries Darth Vader.
• Gets an “I love Darth Vader” tattoo.
• Zaps himself.

C-3PO:

• Goes to work for the bad guys.
• Becomes a Jedi.
• (If Vader was alive) Warns R2 that Vader is coming to kill Luke.

Admiral Ackbar:

• Goes into the ocean at Naboo and meets Jar Jar.
• Finds a double-bladed lightsaber on the ground and fights with it.

Jabba:

• They (unidentified) find the dead Jabba and put him in the “garbage place” (Death Star trash compactor) and squish him to make sure he’s really dead.

Ewoks:

• Ewoks leave Endor on the Millennium Falcon and have a disco party on another planet. A bigger party than at the end of Return of the Jedi.
• In the new movie, Ewoks will die.

Lastly, Chris and I noticed that some of the children we talked to believed Darth Vader was alive and would make an appearance in the new movie. Whether they didn’t fully grasp what happened or reached the end of Return of the Jedi, kids (like many adults) really love Darth Vader.

Vader:

• Fights Leia.
• Fights Luke.
• Darth Vader should get eaten by a crocodile.
