New York Comic Con 2014 is officially underway! Cosplays, comics books, video games, toys, and geek culture in general are on full display this weekend. With an expected attendance of over 140,000 fans this year, the biggest pop culture event of the east coast kicked off on a high note, especially for this Star Wars fan. Appearances by Ashley Eckstein, John Jackson Miller, Joe Corroney, and other fans and professionals from the Star Wars community made the day all the more enjoyable with friendly and engaging conversations.

Although the Star Wars: A New Dawn and Star Wars Rebels panels take place on Saturday, October 11, Star Wars continued to have a strong presence on the show floor. The Del Rey Books booth (#2204) displayed a wide variety of reading material from Star Wars Legends to Star Wars: A New Dawn. Disney Publishing Worldwide (booth #2128) also had on display a handful of Star Wars Rebels books, including Star Wars Rebels: The Rebellion Begins by Michael Kogge and Star Wars Rebels: Edge of the Galaxy by Jason Fry. DK Publishing (booth #1831) showcased a few Star Wars Rebels books of their own, including the Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide by Adam Bray and the Ultimate Sticker Collection: Star Wars Rebels. Finally, Abrams ComicArts (booth #2228) had the soon-to-be-released Star Wars Art: Posters among others.

Ashley Eckstein stopped by the ReedPOP Supply Co. booth, where Her Universe items from Star Wars, Marvel, and Doctor Who are being sold throughout the weekend. To top it all off, artist Joe Corroney signed the poster for Star Wars: Tarkin by James Luceno and author John Jackson Miller signed Star Wars: A New Dawn at the Del Rey Books booth.

The hunt for more Star Wars updates continues Friday, October 10, so stay tuned for more information. For photos and other goodies collected on Thursday’s opening, please visit MakingStarWars.net.
