It's been a long while since I spent any time with Terry Brooks, but his original Sword of Shannara Trilogy was a fantasy rite of passage back in my high school days. The idea of a direct prequel definitely intrigued me when the opportunity to snag an advance copy came my way, but it was the self-contained nature of all three books in this new trilogy that really sold me. Like I said, it's been a long while, but it's nice to reconnect with an old friend.
