Official merchandise for men and women featuring and inspired by leading ladies Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla from the popular animated series Star Wars Rebels are hard to come by, often leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans. Fan art for these two characters continues to thrive, however, especially for the Mandalorian armor-clad weapons expert and artist.

Freelance artist and illustrator Hollie Ballard recently shared an impressive design based on Sabine’s sleek and colorful outfit. It takes the basic shapes and colors of the original athletic shirt and pant design and transforms them into a chic A-line dress with a scoop neckline and short sleeves. Upon seeing it for the first time, I thought it was an everyday cosplay dress straight from Ashley Eckstein’s Her Universe, like the Han Solo Costume Dress and Boba Fett Tunic Tank. Turns out, Hollie is a fan of Star Wars Rebels and designed the dress for a friend!

A self-taught artist with an appreciation for all things Disney, she aspires to work there someday and practices her skills on a variety of Disney characters. Most of her art uses a mix of pencil, marker and watercolor, but her dresses are designed digitally, as seen with the Sabine-inspired dress.

Another piece of art that she first sketched out and finalized digitally? A Paperman (2012) and Star Wars crossover! Vote for her design to get printed over at Qwertee, where it can potentially be made into a t-shirt.

Over at her Instagram, she also created a Frozen and Star Wars crossover, where Olaf and a stormtrooper meet.

Finally, to bring it back around to the Mandalorian who inspired today’s Fashion Friday, Hollie also sketched out a beautiful drawing of Sabine on watercolor paper back in October when the series first kicked off.

To follow Hollie and her art, check out her Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. Also, if you’re interested in supporting and obtaining some original art and merchandise, visit her Etsy and Redbubble online stores.
