Force Friday Galactic Madness
For the sake of ultimate transparency, I've never been a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, I've been known to commit the act of blasphemy, in loving the second trilogy...
May the Fourth weekend is right around the corner. With brand new Star Wars content heading our way, this day in particular becomes more and more exciting. It’s a day when we don our favorite t-shirt or costume, marathon the trilogies, crack open our favorite books, and just celebrate everything that we love about Star Wars.
Looking to do something that will allow you to share your love for Star Wars with other fans? Check out the following events and television programming, and remember that the Force will be with you…always.
Free Comic Book Day (May 3)
Star Wars may not be heavily featured on Free Comic Book Day, but if your local comic book store is participating in this annual event, you may want to check out the free comic book Steam Wars written and illustrated by Fred Perry.
A not so long ago, in a galaxy relatively close by began an epic struggle on a world seized in the grip of an evil Victorian empire. Only a ragged alliance of rebels oppose the emperor and his black guard, but hope is fading. While fleeing from the steam-driven war machines of her imperial pursuers, Duchess Imoen stumbles across the home of the last Dragoon: the legendary storm foil warriors of ancient lore! This new (but strangely familiar) steam-fantasy epic will give thrills that haven’t been felt since 1977.
Not convinced it’ll be a good read? Read this positive review and interview at What’cha Reading to find out more about the comic and Perry’s thoughts behind the story.
Build Your Own Star Wars Starfighter (May 3)
When the life-sized LEGO X-Wing came to Times Square, NYC, I took a picture in the cockpit and built a few Mini X-Wings of my own.
Now it’s you and your family’s opportunity to build a LEGO Star Wars Mini TIE Fighter and LEGO Star Wars Mini X-Wing at your closest Toys “R” Us! From 12-2PM, children ages 5 and up can participate while supplies last.
LEGO Store’s Exclusive Products (May 3)
If your wallet or purse will allow it, you can pick up a LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler and LEGO Star Wars Darth Revan minifigure at the LEGO Store.
LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded (May 4)
Looking to add more books to your collection? The LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded book will be available for purchase on May the Fourth.
Complete with 48 additional pages and updated throughout to show all of the new sets and innovations from LEGO® Star Wars®, LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Update and Expanded provides detailed and annotated photography giving insight into the characters, locations, creatures, and spacecraft of the LEGO galaxy far, far away.
The updated “Beyond the Bricks” chapter goes behind-the-scenes to take a look at how LEGO sets are made, new models, plus fun fan creations. Of course this book would not be complete without an exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigure, which is sure to impress even the most dedicated collector.
The minifigure is none other than retro Luke Skywalker! Be sure to visit the DK Publishing site for more information about what the updated version includes and how to participate in the LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded national book tour.

The New Yoda Chronicles (May 4)
The best way to end your festivities would be to lay back on the couch and tune in to “The New Yoda Chronicles: Escape from the Jedi Temple” on the Disney Channel and Disney XD. The LEGO special, written by Michael Price, will focus on classic characters from the old trilogy. Fans will also get an exclusive look at Star Wars Rebels.
“The New Yoda Chronicles” will air at 7PM and 9PM on Disney XD. However, if you want to catch it ahead of time, it will air on May 3rd at 9PM on the Disney Channel.
(Please note that this trailer is from Disney Channel Asia, meaning it comes from a different time zone)
Hope you all have a safe and wonderful May the Fourth!
