Joseph Gordon-Levitt v's Paul Rudd for 'Ant-Man'

Variety is reporting that Marvel is having a tough time choosing between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd for the role of Ant-Man. No offense to Paul Rudd fans out there, but is this even a choice? It's true that Ant-Man is not your typical stoic superhero, like Superman or Spiderman. Ant-Man is more comedic and his powers are somewhat comical. Ant-Man wears a helmet to control--you guessed it-- ANTS, and he can shrink himself down to the size of an insect. He doesn't have super strength, speed, or intelligence. So considering Ant-Man's attributes, Rudd isn't far off base, as Rudd is a comedic actor.

But despite Ant-Man's obvious humor, I hope that an 'Ant-Man' film is more like 'Iron Man' and less like 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.' Which is why I hope they cast JGL as super scientist Hank Pym. Rudd has comedic flair, but Gordon-Levitt is more well-rounded. Lest we forget, JGL is also in great physical shape, which is a requirement for a superhero...even 'Ant-Man.'

'Ant-Man' will be directed by 'Shaun of the Dead' director, Edgar Wright and is expected to be released July 31, 2015.

Side note: Marvel's decision to fully utilize its catalog of superheroes makes this DC Comics fan beg the question again. DC Comics-- WHEN WE WILL GET A 'WONDER WOMAN' FILM?
